Bus driver's strike not resolved

The Rea Vaya bus drivers' strike in Johannesburg has not been resolved, the SA Municipal Workers' Union said on Wednesday.

The union was waiting for an interdict application to be heard in the Labour Court on Thursday, regional chairman Dion Makhura said.

Piotrans was seeking an urgent interdict against the drivers to have the strike declared illegal, spokesman Dumisani Mntambo said on Monday.

Piotrans and Litsamaiso manage the operations of Rea Vaya's buses.

Mntambo said Piotrans regarded the strike as illegal due to the nature of the workers' demands. On Wednesday morning Mntambo said the company
would meet its lawyers to discuss a response sent by the union.

Litsamaiso spokesman Babu Maharaj confirmed that the strike had not been resolved. Maharaj said the union had some issues with an agreement
that had been tabled.
