Bus torched amid Cape Town taxi strike

Police in the Western Cape are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a bus was torched during a taxi strike Monday morning.
Last week, taxi association Santaco in the Western Cape announced that it will embark on a two-day shutdown
in response to the provincial government's decision to wind down the Blue Dot Taxi Pilot Programme due to budget constraints.
Police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk said an unknown passenger was allegedly shot and injured during the bus attack.
"The bus was transporting passengers when it was allegedly attacked and set alight by unknown suspects.
"In another incident at Oscar Mpetha Road in Kuyasa at about six in the morning another bus driver reported that his bus was shot at.
"The police have since opened an attempted murder for investigation and are still tracing the victim who was allegedly rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
"There are no arrests as yet in both incidents. Investigations continue."
