Bushiri: My life is more important than any worldly assets
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Fugitive Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says he doesn’t care for the assets that he has forfeited in South Africa, saying his life is more important.

Bushiri released a statement on his Facebook page, shortly after he and his wife Mary were released by a Lilongwe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday afternoon.
“I am also informed that some of my assets in South Africa have been confiscated by authorities to which I say: ‘My right to life is more important than any asset in this world,’” reads the statement.
The Bushiri’s R5 million home in Centurion was seized by the South African government on Thursday, along with R400 000 in bail after the pair failed to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court.

In the Malawian capital, Lilongwe, the court ordered the unconditional release of the couple
Magistrate Viva Nyimba told the court that the arrest of the Bushiris was illegal and that the pair should have appeared before the court through a summons and not by means of an arrest.
The Magistrate also found that Interpol used the wrong process when acted on an extradition request from Pretoria and that this should be finalised through the Malawian government.
“Whatever has happened today, I don’t see it as our victory nor our lawyers. God has won. Tomorrow is better than today,” concluded Bushiri in his statement.
