Over 2 500 new daily Covid-19 cases detected in South Africa

The number of new Covid-19 cases in the country has increased by 2 514 in the 24-hour cycle up to Thursday evening.
Statistics released by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that a total number of 24 456 new tests were also conducted since the last report.
Furthermore, 115 more Covid-19 related deaths were reported, with the Eastern Cape continuing to account for the most fatalities.

The Eastern Cape confirmed 42 related deaths, the Free State and Gauteng each recorded 23 deaths, while the Western Cape saw an increase of 15 fatalities.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded nine deaths, while Mpumalanga recorded two fatalities.
The total number of recoveries in the country now stands at 702 544, which is a recovery rate. of 92.6%
