The Hawks have issued three more warrant of arrest for Bushiri, who fled the country with his wife Mary two weeks ago.

Bushiri, who was on trial for fraud and money-laundering, breached his bail condition when he mysteriously fled the country for his native homeland, Malawi.

Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale said the warrants of arrests were issued last week Friday.

"Bushiri was already facing charges of fraud and money laundering. At the time of his disappearance, Bushiri was under investigation for three separate cases of rape reported by members of his church," said Mogale.

But Bushiri has hit back at the Hawks, saying he believes they are part of the larger crusade against him.

“As a revered man of God, a husband and father who understands that rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I stand and believe in.

“As keen as I am to clear my name, I unequivocally refuse to feed the media spectacle created by white police officers bent to cover up their crimes. My conscious is very clear and so it shall remain.”
