Cabinet has vowed to review and provide clarity on lockdown regulations following President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement on Wednesday that much of the country would move down to level 3.

Ramaphosa said that consultations have begun to shift most areas in the country to Level 3 lockdown, although some coronavirus hotspots might have to stay on level 4.

Cabinet held meetings with the coronavirus command council this week on the implementation and success of the level 4 lockdown regulations.
Cabinet spokesperson Phumla Williams says cabinet is pleased with the compliance levels in the business sector.
"Cabinet expressed its understanding for challenges and frustrations experienced by the public and businesses due to a lack of clarity in some of the Level 4 regulations, which gave rise to inconsistent interpretation and enforcement.
"Cabinet committed that regulations would be reviewed to provide the necessary clarity and enable improved compliance."
