Cabinet has reassured South Africans that the high unemployment rate is being addressed.
Acting Minister in the Presidency, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula briefed media Thursday afternoon on the outcomes of a cabinet meeting.
Cabinet reaffirmed that the National Development Plan will ignite growth and boost jobs.
Mapisa Nqakula admitted that rising unemployment rate is a cause for concern. She said government isn't blind to the fact that not nearly enough South Africans have jobs.
"Government is using all available initiative, including its industrial policy action plan, to create more labour absorbing production and services sector to address unemployment," Mapisa-Nqakula said.
Cabinet also expressed its disgust at the destruction of more than 20 schools in Vuwani in Limpopo.
"This destruction disadvantages our children and undermine the country's efforts to provide quality education. Residents are encouraged to isolate any elements who are leading and destroying the future of our children and report them to the law enforcement agencies," she said.
