Car crashes into pedestrians, kills four
Four pedestrians who were on their way to work have been killed after a car smashed into them on Main Reef Road in Boksburg on Thursday morning.
Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services` spokesperson, William Nthladi said all four people were declared dead at the scene following the accident at the corner of Main Reef and Field roads opposite Angelo Informal Settlement in Boksburg.
"On arrival, five female patients were identified lying across the pavement and the driver still in the vehicle. Pre-hospital medical treatment was initiated and regrettably four pedestrians were declared dead on scene, the fifth including the driver sustained critical injuries," Nthladi said.
"The cause is unknown for now, because the driver was hospitalised in a serious condition."
Nhlathi said it's believed the four people killed were on their way to catch a taxi to go to work.
