Carl Niehaus: Democracy will prevail no matter who wins ANC presidency
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma campaigner and African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee member, Carl Niehaus, says democracy will prevail irrespective of who becomes the party's next president.

Niehaus told JacarandaFM News on Tuesday morning they are happy with the adopted number of voting delegates and that the leadership elections are going smoothly.
''We've looked at the numbers and the various delegations, we are happy with them and the voting is continuing apace.
''We are confident that the ANC and democracy will prevail, regardless of who gets elected here.''
Niehaus says voting delegates wanted the credentials to be adopted succesfully, adding that ''even though it's a strongly contested conference, it is not dissolving into fractional chaos like some people are predicting.''
By mid-morning on Monday, voting was still underway to elect a successor to President Jacob Zuma.
However, it hasn't been smooth sailing after the adoption of credentials took more than 20 hours.
A total of 1469 branches nominated current Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa for the position of ANC president, while 1094 branches nominated his rival, ANC MP Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
