Case against 6 accused in Luke Fleurs murder postponed
Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The families of the six men accused of killing Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs say the police were too quick to charge them with murder.
The group appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning - where the matter was postponed to next Thursday.
Fleurs died when he was shot during an apparent hijacking at a Honeydew filling station earlier this month.
The men were arrested a week later, and the soccer star’s car was found stripped
Thubelihle Mswane said his brother admitted to organising a hideaway for the car, which he claims sat abandoned in Slovoville still with the key in the ignition before the group allegedly began stripping it.
Mswane, however, denied his brother even knew it was linked to the hijacking and murder of Fleurs.
“The police was too quick to charge these boys with murder and parade them in the media as the killers of the Kaizer Chiefs player.”
Mswane called on the police to find Fleurs’ real killers.
