Case against Ntokozo Xaba’s alleged killer postponed to June

The man accused of killing Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) student Ntokozo Xaba made a brief appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Twenty-three-year-old Ngcebo Thusi will remain in custody until his next appearance after the matter was postponed to the 2nd of June for further investigation.
Last month Thusi abandoned bail.
In stark contrast to his past appearances, when he appeared disheveled and wore the same grey hoodie, Thusi emerged from the holding cells donning a navy-blue golf t-shirt and a fresh haircut.
Xaba’s lifeless body was discovered with stab wounds at her off-campus residence last month.
It’s alleged the third-year integrated communication student hosted a group of her friends, including Thusi, at her apartment on the night of 1 February. After the friends allegedly left the pair alone, they became concerned when they could not get hold of her on her phone the next morning.
Thusi was arrested the same day and charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Xaba’s family was in court for the brief proceedings.
