Cato Manor case set down for trial
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The case against embattled KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Head Johan Booysen and 27 others has been set down for trial.
The members of the now disbanded Cato Manor Serious and Violent Crimes Unit made a brief appearance at the Durban High court Friday morning on charges of racketeering.
A trial date has been set down for 30 January to 3 April 2017.
Legal counsel representing Booysen, his 27 co-accused and the state agreed that any new applications brought forward before the trial, should be finalized before the last session of court on 15 December to ensure that the trial proceeds uninterrupted.
Bail was extended for all the accused.
Booysen previously won several court challenges, but the National Prosecuting Authority maintains that he and his co-accused have a case to answer.
