Cele appoints new acting Ipid boss
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Police Minister Bheki Cele has appointed Victor Senna as the acting head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid)

The 40-year-old Senna is the body’s former chief financial officer (CFO).
The appointment comes amid a court battle between Cele and the police watchdog’s boss Robert McBride.
Parliament’s police committee on Thursday endorsed Cele’s decision not to renew McBride’s contract as executive director of Ipid.
McBride claims the decision was taken unlawfully.

Cele’s spokesperson Reneilwe Serero says Senna was appointed as CFO in February after serving as the chief director of budget and revenue in Gauteng's health department.
He holds qualifications in accounting and public administration.
Senna’s appointment is effective from Friday for a period of three months.
