The group of ten armed suspects attacked police officers and made off with high calibre weapons, shotguns and ammunition.

Cele visited Limpopo on Monday as part of the safer festive season inspection tour.

He was unhappy with the fact that no arrests have been made more than a month after the robbery.

“I am absolutely unhappy about the situation. They are pursuing the case, it’s quite a long time, it's four weeks and nothing has happened, which makes criminal believes that they can rob ordinary people of justice.

“We have agreed that from now on, on daily basis, we will receive the report of how far the police are going with this, they need to put an extra effort and make sure that these people are arrested,” said Cele.

Cele said the stolen firearms must be found before they are used in the commission of a crime.

“I’m calling on the police to step up their investigations into this robbery and find the stolen weapons before they are used to commit more crime. No one can afford to drag their feet on this case. Police must move with speed and make arrests soon.”
