Cele suggests suspension of night-time load shedding in Alex
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Police Minister Bheki Cele believes it would be better for the community of Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, to be exempt from load shedding at night.
Cele met with residents during a special Alexandra imbizo on Sunday after six people were killed on Thursday night.
Among those killed was Alex FM Dj and music compiler, Joshua Mbatha.
“Maybe during the day it’s better but at night allow the communities to have lights and allow the security enforcement agencies to be able to respond," said Cele.

He reacted after residents said they have become easy targets for criminals who attack when there is load shedding.
The victims were killed by an alleged group of gun-toting men, all believed to be from the area.
Police have since arrested seven people who have been directly or indirectly linked to the crime.
