Charges laid against BLF
Updated | By Sibahle Motha & Laila Majiet
Political analyst Karima Brown has laid a charge of assault against a member of the Black First Land First movement.
This follows a clash outside the home of journalist and editor-at-large at Tiso Blackstar Group, Peter Bruce, last month.
"I laid a criminal charge of assault at the Parkview Police Station this morning. I know exactly who assaulted me. I have pictures of the person, because I took photos of the protestors outside Peter Bruce's house," Brown says.
She says the BLF is not a political movement.
" They're a bunch of hired thugs who do the dirty work of the Guptas and President Jacob Zuma," she adds.
Earlier this month, the South Gauteng High Court granted the South African National Editors Forum an urgent interdict which it had sought against the BLF, to prevent the organisation and its members from threatening or intimidating journalists.
Sanef's Mahlatse Gallens says the forum has also laid charges following the chaos which broke out outside court, following the granting of the interdict and the further intimidation of journalists.
