Charges laid against company over alleged animal cruelty

A charge of animal cruelty has been laid against two companies, 7 Arrows Security and Canine Solutions, over the death of a security dog.

The charges were laid by the Midrand SPCA.
Senior inspector for the National Council of SPCAs, Meg Wilson, says a post mortem and a veterinary report revealed that the dog suffered from severe pneumonia.
"The deceased dog was found to be in extremely poor condition," says Wilson.
Following the discovery of the dog, the 7 Arrows Security offered to donate R20 000 to the NSPCA.
But the NSPCA refused the offer, saying a similar case was reported in Bloemfontein.
"Earlier this year, the Bloemfontein SPCA confiscated 13 dogs owned by Canine Solutions from a security company.
"The dogs were also found to be living in extremely poor and dirty conditions," Wilson explains.
The Bloemfontein SPCA subsequently laid charges against both companies.
