The MEC for Infrastructure Development in Gauteng Jacob Mamabolo gave an update on a report compiled by independent law firm, Adams and Adams Attorneys.

Mamabolo says the contractor was negligent in piling up stones, which led to the collapse of the roof.

Another contractor has subsequently been appointed to complete the project.

"Thandazanani is off site. We have appointed another contractor and they have started work," says Mamabolo.

The department has not made the report public, as it is under legal review.

"It will remain part of our documents for technical court process or litigation if that were to happen. In that context, we will keep the report as the dispute resolution continues and we will not make it publicly available because there could be those disputes," Mamabolo says.

Mambolo says he expects the previous the contractor to institute legal proceedings.

The department has not made public details of the action it has taken against Thandazanani Investment Trading.
