Chickens cause traffic chaos on N1
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
A load of chickens scattered across the N1 south just after the Allandale Road off-ramp in Midrand caused severe traffic disruptions on Thursday.
The chickens were scattered across the road after two cars collided with a truck transporting the animals.
The Johannesburg metro police’s Tessa Adams says the collision lead to the closure of four lanes on the highway.
"Around 40 chickens died in the process and 60 chickens survived," she says.
Nobody was injured in the collision and the road has since been reopened.
