City of Joburg launches revamped Roosevelt Park substation
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba and City Power launched the official opening of the multi million revamped Roosevelt Park substation near Northcliff on Friday.
The outgoing mayor says the substation was built 65 years ago.
Mashaba previously visited the substation three months after taking office to find residents complaining about electricity outages in the area.
"I am pleased that the outages are a thing of the past, we have now updated this substation with the latest technology including adding additional capacity."
The city had allocated R133 million for the refurbishment of the substation.
Mashaba added that the substation has been installed with four transformers, three new feeder boards and a standby board.
