City Power: Eldorado Park Ext4 power expected back on Monday
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Residents of Eldorado Park Extension 4 are still without
power, after a mini substation in the area exploded and caught fire last week.
City Power believes the fire started after vandals tried to gain access to the indoor mini substation by breaking the lock and trying to dismantle the infrastructure inside.
City Power's Isaac Mangena says engineers tried to replace the burnout transformers with a new mini sub, but it too exploded on Sunday night.
"We got our technicians on the ground. They are trying to find a replacement for the new transformer that blew up," says Mangena.
Mangena believes power may be restored to all affected areas later on Monday afternoon.
