City Power on track to restore power in Alexandra
Updated | By Neo Motloung
City Power hopes to have electricity fully restored in Alexandra by midday on Thursday.
This comes after one of the power entity's switching substations in the area was vandalised and caught fire on Tuesday evening.
On Wednesday, City Power said efforts to restore power were hampered by illegal shacks built on the ground where underground electrical cables had to be replaced.
However, City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says the shack dwellers complied with a request and their structures were removed on Wednesday.
"We are currently at 95 % of the work already done, we are waiting on the testing team that will be coming in this morning to ensure that everything is okay," says Mangena.
