City Power warns of possible winter blackouts
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
City Power has urged Johannesburg resident to use power sparingly as the country heads into the winter season.

The power utility’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena says the city is already experiencing power constrains in areas with illegal connections.
“We are projecting the demand to increase, and the power system is forecast to be tight in the coming weeks.
“City Power has already activated winter plan in anticipation of the challenges brought to the increasing number of unplanned outages due to the powering of the grid.”
City Power is set to embark on a campaign to remove illegal connections in hotspot areas, including Rabie Ridge in the east and Kya Sands in the west.
