‘Coalition’ not in my vocabulary, says Ramaphosa

African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa says the party is not planning to enter into any coalition.
Ramaphosa held a public meeting in Ivory Park on Saturday as the party tries to convince voters to pick them on Monday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Ramaphosa said he was confident that the ANC will still win an outright majority in the Gauteng metros.
“On the outcome of the elections I am not thinking about any form of a deal or coalition. The ANC is going to win outright, that’s how positive I am. Coalition doesn’t exist in my vocabulary, outright victory is what exists in my vocabulary.
“I am confident. We are going to surprise many people who thought the ANC was on its knees, the ANC will not mount a successful campaign and we have mounted a really successful campaign,” said Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa also doesn’t believe the recent bout of load shedding will hurt the party at the polls.
“The issue of load shedding we have sought to explain and Eskom has also explained what it is. We are confident that there won't be any load shedding in the next few days and Eskom is really dealing with a big challenge and sometimes we criticise them.
“I am putting a lot of pressure on them that they must stabilise the electricity system in our country because our people deserve a stable electricity system.
“Will it have a negative impact on the elections? I would think not because our people understand where we are. They are angry, I have considered the anger is there, but at the same time they have come to understand.”
