Cocaine worth R29m seized at Durban harbour

Police seized blocks of cocaine with a street value of R29 million hidden in a shipping container in Durban harbour, a spokesman said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the Hawks intercepted the container in Durban harbour on Tuesday night.
Ninety-five 1kg blocks of cocaine were stacked next to the door of the container.
Zwane said no arrests had been made but there was clear evidence that the seal of the container had been tampered with.
"It is suspected that the drugs were intended to be removed before the container could be handed to the owner."
He said the container had been shipped from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires on 5 September and the ship docked in Durban on 30 September.
