Cocaine worth R9mn seized at OR Tambo airport

South African Revenue Service Customs officials and the detector dog unit intercepted 30 kilogrammes of cocaine valued at R9 million at OR Tambo International on Monday afternoon.

In a statement, SARS said: "The tag less black bag arrived on a flight from Sao Paolo arousing a lot of suspicious activity around it.
"It was immediately detained and found to contain pieces of carbon paper, a green duvet and 30 sealed blocks of white substance testing positive for cocaine."
The consignment was handed over to the South African Police and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (the Hawks) for further investigation. - ANA
