Forecaster Edward Engelbrecht says maximum temperatures are expected to only reach the high teens on Saturday and Sunday.

"This Friday morning we are experiencing minimum temperatures across the country with most places over the interior reaching below zero degrees and its been about minus two, minus one.'

"In Gauteng it wasn't too cold we have reached minimum temperatures of minus one, minus two degrees in the Johannesburg, Vereeninging on minus two however the maximum temperatures are quite cold today reaching the mid teens."

Temperatures are expected to rise in the middle of next week.

''The cold front has already exited the country but it has dumped a lot of cold air over South Africa and we expect the cold temperatures to last for the next four days so the maximum temperatures for the country only going up into the mid teens, maybe high teens,'' Engelbrecht says.
