Colourful social cohesion carnival to celebrate Heritage Day

In celebration of Heritage Day, Gauteng premier David Makhura will lead a social cohesion carnival in the capital city.



Thousands of participants are showcasing Africa's creativeness through mesmerising floats and enthralling dancers.



President Jacob Zuma is set to lead the national celebrations in Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga, under the theme: "The Year of OR Tambo: Celebrating Our Liberation Heritage".



The Presidency says the theme is in accordance with preserving the history and imparting it to the younger generations.



Zuma says: "Celebrating our Liberation Heritage contributes to the revival of the political and social-cultural consciousness across the country on the liberation struggle narrative. We hope that it will also It invoke nationwide discussions on issues relating to decolonisation and identity, democracy and radical socio-economic transformation."
