Companies should fund political parties: Mkhize
Updated | By Neo Leeuw
ANC treasurer general Zweli Mkize wants companies to fund political parties and has suggested the establishment of a trust fund, the Sowetan reported on Monday.

"This is about supporting democracy without being partisan," he was quoted as saying.
"[Businesses] must pay millions, but this should not stop them from supporting parties of their choice."
He argued that business had gained through peace and democracy.
"If there is unrest or community protests, there will be no business... political parties have to hold meetings with communities to find solutions."
Mkhize said he was prepared to call a meeting with major businesses to discuss a proposal for the establishment of a trust fund into which companies could deposit their donations.
The fund could be administered by the office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, which would allocate the funds in line with proportional representation of parties.
"I believe there are businesses thriving because of stability and peace created by democracy, but they do not want to contribute," he reportedly said.
