Concern over impact of red paint in Jukskei River
Updated | By Suné du Toit
Parts of the Jukskei River that turned red over the weekend is now clean.

Murray van Zyl of the Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative says the dumping of red paint is detrimental to the environment.
"It will remove the oxygen from the water and kill small species like fish and frogs and anything living in the water," says Van Zyl.
Van Zyl says the red paint washed away this morning.
"We are not sure how far the impact will carry down the river. Obviously it is going to flow down into the main Jukskei River," says Van Zyl.

Van Zyl they have reported the pollution to the environmental division of City Parks.
"We've heard nothing from them. We've had no feedback. We will try and get hold of them later this afternoon to see if an environmental team has been sent out and what, if any, action will be taken to try to restore the balance of the ecosystem."
