The pupils lost their lives when a part of a walkway collapsed at the school on Friday morning.

Chairperson of the Committee, Joe Mpisi, says the academic programme at the school was originally scheduled to resume on Wednesday morning, but a team of structural engineers will have to be allowed to first finish their investigation.

"We are going to inspect the damage and whether the institution is in a condition for learners to go back to school after the investigation.”

Mnisi says the age of the building is a concern.

"We are told the school is old. Apparently, there was no proper maintenance on the school."

The committee is yet to establish who is responsible for the maintenance of the school grounds and has requested that the department continue to support the pupils and affected families.
