This comes after a parent of two pupils at the school tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.

After the news broke, parents pulled their children out of school.

On Friday only 303 out of 1050 pupils were in attendance.

Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the level of absenteeism is worrisome.

"Both Heads of Department of Education and Health wish to undertake that they are managing the situation and also assure parents that, there is no need for panic," says Mabona.

He adds: "It is concerning."
