Consumers urged to avoid in-store shopping this Black Friday

The Christmas shopping frenzy tradition kicks off on Friday, with some stores already running massive sales of up to 80% until the first week of December.

Roets has urged consumers to rather make use of online shopping to avoid unnecessary spending.

"What we alsways advise our clients is to make sure to do your proper homework and make sure you know what is that you want to buy and that it is something that you need. Preferably they can order all of it online so that you don't have to go to the store and getting hold up on the whole Black Friday frenzy and spending more money than you can."

The 2022 Black Friday report by First National Bank shows that consumers spent over R3 billion on supposed bargain deals.

Most consumers spent money on travel, transportation, groceries, clothing and entertainment.

Long-life milk, toilet paper and air fryers were also the big sellers.
