Consumers warned not to overspend on Black Friday

Debt Rescue CEO Neil Roets warns consumers to avoid overspending on products sold at seemingly lower prices on Friday

Black Friday, which has taken the retail sector by storm, offers goods and services at lower prices during a select period in November each year.

Roets says consumers tend to get excited by bargains and lower prices which may result in excessive spending.

“Now, with Black Friday coming we’ve seen in the past that people are spending more money than they can actually afford to spend and to help with that some of the retailers are offering them credit.

“The retailers are luring people with specials on certain products but then people buy other products when they are at the store.”

He adds that although online shopping is convenient it may further indebt consumers during the festive season.
