Cop, suspect among 7 killed in Limpopo crash
Seven people, including a police officer, were killed in a crash on the R101 in the Waterberg District in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The officer died after the police van he was travelling in collided head-on with another car.
A suspect who was being transported in the van, and five 5 people from the car all died on the scene of the crash.
The driver of the police van was rushed to the hospital.
"The cause of this horrific accident is still unknown and is currently being investigated," the provincial Transport Department's Vongani Chauke said.
"MEC Radzilani has sent messages of condolences to the bereaved families and wish the driver a speedy recovery.
"She has also appealed to road-users to take extra precautions during their trips in order to reduce road fatalities on the provincial roads."
