They are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, says the officers are a Captain and a Constable respectively.

Masondo adds police were tipped off that two police officers in full uniform were escorting a suspected hijacked truck, travelling in a marked police vehicle.

"Police on routine patrol in the early hours of Monday morning noticed a truck being escorted by three vehicles including a marked police car on the N12 highway in Benoni," says Masondo.

He adds investigations revealed the truck was full of groceries and had been hijacked in Potchefstroom in the North West.

"They will face charges ranging from truck hijacking, possession of hijacked truck, defeating the ends of justice and driving the car without owner's consent."
