Two on-duty detectives attached to the Honeydew police station in the northwest of Johannesburg have been shot and killed on the West Rand.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the bodies of the Constable and Sergeant were found meters away from a state vehicle in Roodepoort.
“Gauteng police have mobilised resources to apprehend those responsible for this crime.
“The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola is calling on community members to take a stand against police killings, he says the killing of men and women in blue cannot continue.”
The killings bring the total to five police officers killed in the line of duty this week.
“Two were killed in Eastern Cape and three in Gauteng,” says Mathe.
