Cops at Uber driver attack to face the music

Police officers seen standing idly by while an Uber driver was attacked at a Johannesburg mall could face disciplinary action.
A video in which officers are seen watching the attack outside the Mall of Africa went viral on social media on Monday.

Police
confirmed an internal investigation is underway.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo says one of the officers seen in the video has already been identified.
The attack comes amid the ongoing violence between metered taxi drivers and Uber drivers.
Naidoo says there has been a directive for high police visibility in so-called hotspot areas.
There has been a spate of attacks on Uber drivers in Pretoria over the last two months.
An Uber driver died as a result of his injuries in July.
His car had been petrol bombed outside Loftus Versfeld in June.
