Limpopo corpse dug up, stolen before tombstone unveiling

Police in Mokwakwaila have launched unusual investigation after the body of the deceased was dug out of the grave and stolen by unknown suspects in the Mopani District in Limpopo on Sunday.
Police were called after one of the family members went to the cemetery to clean the gravesite when she discovered the stolen corpse.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says the family was preparing for the upcoming gathering to unveil the tombstone.
"Preliminary probe conducted at the scene established that the suspect(s) accessed the graveyard by cutting the side fence.
"The suspects dug a hole next to a tombstone, accessed the coffin and stole the entire body.
"Police have opened a case of violation of grave and theft."
Modike Masedi, whose body was stolen, reportedly died on 15 January and was buried seven days later on the 22nd.
The motive for the theft is unknown.
