COSAS: Education system needs to be updated
Updated | By MornéJK
The Congress of South African Students says the education system needs to be updated following the protest against discriminating school rules and codes of conduct.
Learners from the Pretoria High School for Girls in Pretoria protested against the codes of conduct with schools in other parts of South Africa that followed suit.
COSAS' Zama Khanyase says the recent protests serve as a reminder of the changes that still need to be made.
"What will assist in schools is that we have a standardised code of conduct," she told Jacaranda FM News.
Khanyase added that currently it is uip to individsual schools to draft their own codes of conduct, which often leads to the discrimination of some of the learners.

"The problem is that sometimes the codes of conduct are drafted according to the view of a minority," Khanyase said.
