Cosatu not ready to pronounce on ANC succession
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) on Tuesday said it will not pronounce on any name for who should succeed ANC President Jacob Zuma.
The federations General Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali, however, said it's a practice in the ANC that the Deputy President succeeds the President.
Ntshalintshali said the ANC's Youth League, the Military Veterans and Women's League were reckless when they pronounced on the party's succession debate.
Cosatu slated the ANCYL for being ill-informed on how things work in the ANC.
Ntshalintshali said it has been the practice for the past 21 years for the Deputy President to succeed the President.
"For now, the meeting resolved to allow more space for its affiliate to further engage on this matter so that they can all do the necessary ground work to consult workers," he said.
