Cosatu speaks out against vigilantism
Updated | By Neo Leeuw
Vigilantism has crept into wage-related protests, Cosatu president Sidumo Dlamini said on Tuesday.

"We have come to... a new dangerous form of cohesion where concepts of vigilantism have found space; ‘You are either with us or against us, we will kill you if you are not with us’.
Everybody seems to be saying that is the way to get employers to understand the language you are talking," he told the third biennial labour relations conference hosted by the Public Service Commission in Pretoria.
Labour relations management had been relatively sound in the public sector.
"We can't compare [public sector strikes with] the recent strike between Lonmin at Marikana and those workers," he said.
However, civil servants were concerned with the slow pace of implementation of numerous resolutions.
"The workers have been waiting for a government housing scheme for a long time. This tendency remains a very dark spot in an otherwise good work the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council is conducting," Dlamini said in a brief address to the three-day summit.
Earlier, Deputy Mineral Resources Minister Godfrey Oliphant said government was struggling to contain the frequency of wage-related protests in South Africa.
