A Soweto couple has been arrested in relation to the kidnapping and murder of two young boys in Rockville.
The 50-year-old woman and her 39-year-old partner were arrested on Tuesday following a forensic investigation at the boys’ homes.
The mutilated bodies of Tshiamo Rabanye (6) and five-year-old Mduduzi Zulu were found a week ago, the morning after they went missing.
The bodies were discovered by community members who alerted the police.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says the team that was established by provincial police commissioner Elias Mawela took in the two suspects for questioning.
Although the police investigation is still continuing, Masondo confirmed that the woman is known to the families.
The couple is expected to appear before the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of murder.
Masondo says the motive for the killings is still unknown.
