Court confirms order against Bosasa-linked Vincent Smith
The High Court in Johannesburg has confirmed a restraint order for assets worth R46 million belonging to former ANC MP Vincent Smith, his family trust and his daughter Brumilda.
Monday’s order confirmed the move by the Investigating Directorate (ID) in February.
This includes property, wholly-owned company Euro Blitz, his family trust and property owned by Brumilda.
The seizure comes amid accusations of a corrupt relationship between Smith and controversial facilities management company Bosasa.
“Smith and the other named parties are prohibited from dealing with and/or disposing of the restrained property while the restraint order is in place,” said ID spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka.
“The court-appointed curator from PWC will continue exercising control of the assets, pending the outcome of criminal proceedings instituted against Smith and Euro Blitz 48.”

In October last year, Smith appeared in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court and was granted bail of R30 000.
He is facing fraud and corruption charges for failing to declare some R800 000 which was paid by Bosasa to his company.
He also allegedly benefitted from a security system installed by the company at his Roodepoort home.
“Smith’s assets and those of Euro Blitz 48 and Smith’s family trust will be restrained pending the finalisation of the fraud and corruption case,” Seboka added.
