Court grants bail to couple accused of Bushiri extortion
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday granted bail for Brigadier Rosy Resandt and her husband Clifford following their appearance for allegedly extorting money from self-proclaimed prophet Shepard Bushiri.
The couple is accused of demanding R500 000 from him in 2018 to make his charges of rape, fraud, theft, and money-laundering disappear.
“They will appear again in court on 25 February 2021,” says Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale.
Government has begun the process to have Bushiri and his wife Mary extradited from Malawi back to South Africa.
The couple skipped bail in November and fled to their native Malawi, claiming they would not receive a fair trial in South Africa.
