State witness Tumelo Madlala, who was a childhood friend of the former Bafana Bafana captain, took to the stand on Monday.

He told the court that the investigating officer in the second docket, Captain Joyce Buthelezi, wanted him to alter his statement around the circumstances leading up to Meyiwa’s death.

Meyiwa was shot and killed in Vosloorus in 2014.

Madlala testified that Buthelezi wanted him to change his statement to say that there were no intruders that came into the Khumalo home on the day Meyiwa was killed.

“She actually wanted me to say that there was actually nobody that got into the house. She wanted me to change the statement and say that there was nobody who got into the house.”

Docket 375, which was compiled in 2019, suggested that all the people who were present at the home when Meyiwa was killed be charged with defeating the ends of justice.

According to Buthelezi, the group of people was misleading in the statements about what transpired on the night Meyiwa was killed.

Madlala is expected to continue his testimony on Tuesday.
