Court rules wife killer Jason Rohde must hand himself over by Sunday

The Western Cape High Court has dismissed convicted wife killer Jason Rohde’s bid to extend bail pending the outcome of a Constitutional Court appeal.

In October the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed Rohde’s attempt to overturn his murder conviction for Susan’s 2016 death but reduced his sentence from 20 years’ imprisonment to 15.
Earlier this year, Rohde took to the apex court in another desperate attempt to stay out of prison.
On Thursday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed the court ruled he would have to await the outcome behind bars.
“The court instructed him to report, within 48 hours, to the Plettenberg Bay Police Station. However, an arrangement has been made that he hands himself to the police in Stellenbosch on Sunday,” said NPA provincial spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila.
“I can also indicate that immediately after the judgement the defence indicated that they would appeal the decision of the court. The NPA will oppose the appeal,” Ntabazalila added.
Susan's naked body was discovered on the bathroom floor of the Spier Wine Estate hotel room near Stellenbosch after a gala event of her husband’s business.
He claimed that she hanged herself from the bathroom door but the court ruled that this was far from the truth.
