Judgment in the case of two men accused of killing farmer Brendin Horner will be delivered on Friday in the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court.
Horner, who was 21-years-old at the time of his death, was killed on a farm near Paul Roux in the Free State in 2020.
He was found tied to a pole and beaten to death.
During the trial, the NPA admitted that it had insufficient evidence to successfully prosecute the accused, Sekola Matlaletsa (44) and Sekwetje Mahlamba (32) for murder and robbery.
But spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in the Free State Phaladi Shuping has denied reports that the state has withdrawn the charges altogether.
“The state presented its case, and the case has been rolled over to Friday for judgment. There is no charge that the state is withdrawing because all the charges have been placed on record and have been argued.”
