The City of Tshwane has recorded a significant increase in the number of active Covid-19 cases.

As of Monday, the city recorded 20 425 active cases which is a huge increase compared to the previous week, when the total number of active cases stood at 6 697.
The City recorded 2 560 new Covid-19 cases on Monday.
According to the South African Medical Association (SAMA), Tshwane is the epicentre of the new Omicron variant.

"I want to appeal to our residents to be cautious and to continue practising social distancing, wearing masks and sanitising regularly.
Residents are encouraged to go out and get vaccinated. The City of Tshwane has 67 public vaccination sites," says Williams.
The City has administered 1 639 960 vaccines to date, with 941 815 individuals in the capital region fully vaccinated.
The recoveries are at 257 303 cases.
Williams has condemned the attack of vaccination teams in the City.
" I would also like to denounce the criminal attacks over the weekend that targeted our vaccination team in Soshanguve. If anyone has any information on the individuals that robbed our teams of our equipment, please come forward,"
