Covid positivity rate at 22%

The majority of new cases are from Gauteng (46%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (29%).
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 3,838 new Covic-19 cases in the country.
"This increase represents a 22.0% positivity rate," they say.

The majority of new cases are from Gauteng (46%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (29%).
The Western Cape accounted for 11%; Free State accounted for 4%; Eastern Cape accounted for 3%; Mpumalanga and North West each accounted for 2% respectively; and Limpopo and Northern Cape each accounted for 1% respectively of the new cases.
"The proportion of positive new cases/total new tested is (22.0%), and is higher than yesterday (21.5%)," they note.
"The 7-day average is (20.4%) today, and is higher than yesterday (19.7%)."
There has been an increase of 44 hospital admissions, but no new Covid-19-related deaths reported.
